Silicon Verified (SilVer) is a privately owned integrated circuit (IC) design solution provider based in the Philippines. Leveraging its Managed Development Centre (MDC) operational business model, it provides clients with outsourced semiconductor design, development, and verification services backed by market-leading resources, specialists, and an extensive knowledge base.

"One of our goals is to inform the U.S. and European companies that the Philippines is a key player in the Asian semiconductor market with talent on par with nations like China and India," says Jerome Avondo, founder and managing director of Silicon Verified.

SilVer’s inception dates back to when Intel was functioning in the Philippines. The tech giant provided employment and valuable experience in IC and semiconductors to the Filipino workforce. However, when Intel's operations were discontinued in 2008, Avondo saw an opportunity to utilise the local talent that they had left behind and formed SilVer within a decade. The company assembled a team of highly skilled experts from the local talent pool and connected them with international consumers of semiconductors and IC chips.

SilVer's client-centric ethos is reflected in the MDC operational model. It ensures the clients' complete autonomy and control over their data in this model. Depending on the complexity of the project, each client is assigned a team of 10 to 15 experts.

This ensures client autonomy despite geographical or logical separations and protects their privacy because trust and transparency are fundamental in the collaboration process. SilVer's dedicated team of experts further serves as a client extension, safeguarding them from non-value-added administrative tasks while following all applicable norms and regulations.

The transparency that upholds SilVer's integrity is founded not merely on blind faith but also on the management's years of experience and the open communication channels established between the company and its clients. In the MDC business model, every client is given the opportunity to provide feedback on the performance of the local teams assigned to their projects.

The MDC model augments clients' existing designs while offering turnkey solutions and block development. The model is also employed to develop and manufacture state-of-the-art ICs across a wide range of industry verticals, using suitable tools that fit client needs. SilVer, for example, uses Cadence Designs' and Synopsys' electrical design automation (EDA) tools and adds its expertise rather than creating new ones because each client has a unique operational environment that cannot be managed with identical tools and business fundamentals.

The key principles on which SilVer bases its commercial operations are confidentiality, dedication, teamwork, and continual learning. SilVer pledges to interact with clients in a customer-focused approach and to foster diversity in partnership with a committed team of highly skilled professionals. It uses a simultaneous learning strategy to continually improve its services using insights acquired from market-leading partners and reputable customers. For clients in the semiconductor and IC industries, these basic values lead to innovation, accelerated turnover rates, higher productivity, and greater profitability.
